There
are many Opportunities are waiting for Bangladesh in Power Sector. The future
of this sector is very good for Bangladesh. It is easy to say for many reasons.
Bangladesh is going to establish joint venture power plants with India
especially with its north eastern states. Indian govt. invites Bangladesh to
invest in power sector in joint venture basis which will increase both
countries power generation. Bangladesh government a moment ago got an
invitation from the state government of Tripura to invest in a joint venture
power plant from which Bangladesh will get 100 MW power in its national
grid.
Bangladesh has great chance in using renewable
power sources. Bangladesh has 15 MW solar energy capacities through rural
households and 1.9 MW wind power in Kutubdia and Feni. Bangladesh has intended
to produce 5% of total power generation by 2015 & 10% by 2020 from
renewable energy sources like air, waste & solar energy. Using more
renewable power sources will increase the total power production.
Bangladesh recently signed a contract to set
up a 1,000 MW power plant at Rooppur. After completion of this project there
will be a totaling of 1,000 MW supply to the national grid. This project will
also catch the attention of other foreign investors to invest in nuclear power
plants in Bangladesh which ultimately increase the power production of the
country.
